For many years, we have had the privilege and honor of having Sidney “Jay” Ward, III, leading Ward Lumber through the growths and challenges experienced by most small businesses. In March of 2021, he sold the family business to his second family, the employees of Ward Lumber. He made this decision in preparation of his retirement to ensure the continuation of this community cornerstone. Jay has announced his desire to retire by December 2023. As such, we are beginning the search process for a new Chief Executive Officer so they may train with Jay in 2023 and lead us in the next chapter of growth and prosperity. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive of the Ward Lumber Worker Cooperative (WLWC). The CEO’s primary responsibility is to be fully engaged with the board and management team to plan, direct, coordinate, and control the financial, operating, and human resources of the cooperative, following WLWC policies; to provide effective and satisfactory leadership, benefits and services to participating members, while meeting financial and operational goals and objectives. CEO shall possess significant organizational skills, to manage and direct the organization. The CEO is accountable to the WLWC Board of Directors.

My priority is the health and safety of our employee team, customers, and our community. We continue to work hard at providing as safe an environment as possible and are starting to implement work at home options for team members that can work at home. We continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and OSHA to limit the risk of contraction or the spread of COVID-19.
To protect our team, other customers and our community, I ask that If you are sick in any way or not feeling well for any reason that you refrain from visiting our stores. When you are well again, we will welcome you back with open arms! Or maybe an air hug at a socially safe distance.

Temporary hours of operation in Jay, NY are M-F 7-5p and Sat 8-2p & Sun CLOSED. Malone hours are M-F 7-5p, Sat 7-3p & Sun CLOSED.
