PAYROLL & BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR (FT)

JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinate activities of recording hours of work, processing time records, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, updating time and attendance records, all in a highly confidential and organized manner.  Coordinate administration of Employee Benefit Programs (Health, Life, 401k), company policies and procedures, Workers Compensation and Disability, vacation, sick/personal, performance appraisals and rate increases.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll Management:

  • Compile payroll data such as hours worked, insurance and other deductions to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records.
  • Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Record all payroll change notices affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance premiums, promotions, transfers, garnishments, for each employee to update master payroll records.
  • Keep records of leave pay, work related injury pay, vacation, holiday, personal and sick pay.
  • Update time and attendance records.

Benefit Management:

  • Process Workers Compensation billing, claim processing, record keeping, and correspondence.
  • Group health insurance billing, eligibility, enrollment and administration.
  • 401(k) billing, eligibility, enrollment and administration.
  • Unemployment administration.
  • Vacation, holiday, and leave time administration.
  • Be familiar with the Safety and Health Accident Prevention Program, and abide by all safety and health rules, work practices, and regulations.
  • Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the duties of the job described above.

  • Education and /or Experience
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) from two-year college and two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Computer literate with experience in Excel and Word.
  • Language Skills
    Ability to respond effectively and professionally to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Mathematical Skills
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as deductions, pro-ration of benefits, incentives, taxes, adjustments.
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple job functions simultaneously.
  • Must be detailed and solution oriented.

CUSTOMER SERVICE (FT or PT)

Primary Duties:

  • Provides professional, friendly and courteous sales and customer service to our homeowner and contractor community.

  • Serves customers on a walk-in, on phone and email basis.
  • Provides computer and manually generated quotes on requested lumber, building materials, paint and hardware.
  • Helps maintain store in a safe, neat, orderly and well merchandised manner.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Computer literate in Windows, Microsoft Office. Able to prioritize job functions in order to handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to communicate with good written, oral & listening skills.
  • Must be outgoing, energetic & customer service oriented. 
  • Able to work flexible schedule as required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a drug test and pre-employment physical.

Primary Duties:

  • Supervises work of and provides direction to personnel. Delegates responsibility for specific tasks, trains, schedules personnel, provides performance feedback, and monitors level of customer service.
  • Performs cycle inventory counts along with regular physical inventory of materials and location.  
  • Responsible for layout and signing.
  • Works with Store Manager, vendors, and buyers concerning merchandise problems.
  • Maintains safety and security procedures for employees and customers.
  • Ensure daily housekeeping and safety.
  • Able to communicate product knowledge to the customer.
  • Able to use a forklift.
  • Assist in handling customer complaints.
  • Ensure products are adequately in stock and alert Purchasing if inventory is low.
  • Be familiar with the Safety and Health Accident Prevention Program and abide by all safety and health rules, work place practices, and regulations.
  • Any other related duties as may be requested.

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Able to communicate with good written, oral and listening skills.
  • Some management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Able to lift within OSHA Heavy Lifting guidelines (up to 100 lbs.)
  • Able to bend, stretch and climb, for merchandise handling, while using proper ergonomic techniques.
  • Able to be solution oriented and detail oriented when dealing with vendors, customers and employees.
  • Able to handle multiple job functions and re-prioritize as necessary.
  • Computer literate and able to learn Activant Eagle system.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a drug test and pre-employment physical.

  • Follows up on orders and back orders.
  • Assists in resolving customer complaints and helps expedite customer credit account and financing requests.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years in building material sales, construction, or equivalent experience.
  • Computer literate in Windows, Microsoft Office. Able to prioritize job functions in order to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be proactive, solution & detail oriented when dealing with customers, vendors & co-workers.
  • Able to communicate with good written, oral & listening skills.
  • Must be outgoing, energetic & customer service oriented.

  • Provides sales and customer service support to contractor sales and services contractor, commercial building materials and homeowner customer accounts.
  • Assist contractor sales with ordering of non-stock materials from vendors.
  • Confirm and check all orders, including but not limited to special orders. Ensure accuracy of what is ordered and what is confirmed from vendor.
  • Coordinate deliveries of stock materials and special orders with pro sales salesmen, pro customers & Yard Manager.
