Ward Lumber offers Forage Testing as a free service available to our feed customers and prospects. Testing is conducted through Poulin Grain and Green Mountain Laboratory.
Taking forage samples from your hay is an easy process, and we can even do it during a feed delivery or a farm call! Next, we send the sample to the lab at Poulin, where they generate a forage analysis. The results from the analysis can be used to balance proper diets for horses, using the Equi-Balance program. The test results will show what the hay is providing for nutrition and a grain/feed diet can be determined to balance the hay for a complete diet. The balancing of diets is important, as it can save the expense of overfeeding and potentially adding unwanted weight to horses during low work periods.

CVAS is a leader in analytical services, providing the most sophisticated feed analysis to date. New updates to Green Mountain Labs in 2014 allowed them to expand their services and improve the quality of each analysis. These extensive analyses are used to support the intense quality demands for their products, as well as being directly utilized to make the proper nutritional recommendations based on your feeds and your animals’ needs.
Equi-Balance Equine Diet Evaluation Software is a precision tool developed by Performance Horse Nutrition, used by all Poulin Grain nutrition consultants to formulate diets meeting the specific exercise, growth, gestation or lactation requirements for your horses.
