Market Update....OSB - This is not a run away market but sales have been steady enough to push prices firm to up. This trend should continue for the next few weeks. Order files are 2 weeks in most cases. Trucking delays have subsided but the lack of rail cars at some mills is causing a several week delay in shipping. Click here for full report

Ward Lumber Green Facts
  • Our Wood boiler that heats our dry kilns and sawmill celebrated its 10th birthday in January, 2008.
By burning sawdust we have saved over 2.1 million gallons of oil from being consumed in 10 years.
Pine is renewable in 50-80 years, adds a negligible amount of sulfur dioxide to the atmosphere versus burning coal or oil, and adds no NET CO2 to the atmosphere (burning fossil fuels does).
  • Ward Lumber has been environmentally responsible for a long time, and we continue to strive to find ways to be greener!
We replaced our store light bulbs with CFL bulbs.
    We recycle computer toner cartridges.
    We use recycled paper.
We reduce paper use by electronically scanning and emailing versus copying.
We turn off our computers at night to save energy.
  • Ward Lumber’s Maintenance Department heats our garages with used oil from our trucks, loaders and other equipment.
We also accept used oil from our employees from their vehicle oil changes and reuse.
If you would like to donate your used car oil for our Maintenance Dept. to reuse, please call the Maintenance Dept. in Jay at 946-7535.

  • BSL wood Flooring
Respect for the environment has always been at the core of what BSL stands for. Choosing to use not only sapwood but character wood as well proved decisive for our company, for the products we manufacture and more importantly, for the environment.

More than just a hardwood flooring company, BSL takes pride in being able to create products using 100% of the wood. Using raw material from reputable suppliers which share our common passion for nature, BSL now manufactures energy logs (made from wood chippings and sawdust) and it’s ECO line of hardwood floors (made from gluing strips of wood that otherwise go to waste), that not only look like no other, but proves without a doubt that BSL is “Performing in harmony with nature”.

We do this by implementing aggressive policies that safeguard the health, safety and environments in which we live and work, as well as by ensuring our responsible use of the world’s natural resources... Merillat
  • TimberTech
TimberTech composite decking and railing products offer an attractive, low-maintenance, extremely durable and cost-effective alternative to popular and often chemically treated woods like redwood and cedar.

And, because TimberTech products will not splinter, warp or fade the way wood does, they dramatically reduce the wasteful cycle of repair and replacement and eliminate the frequent application of paint, sealers and stains that could be potentially harmful to the environment.

TimberTech wood composite products are manufactured with recycled wood waste that would otherwise go into landfills.

TimberTech recycles water (during the manufacturing process) through a closed loop water system.

Scrap products are reclaimed and put back in the manufacturing process.

Skids, corrugate and product dust are recycled.

Unlike wood, TimberTech products are a one-time purchase for most homeowners with a limited 25-year residential warranty.

TimberTech products do not require painting, staining or sealing.

All of these qualities are not only better for the environment, they actually enhance a home’s performance and appearance by reducing maintenance costs and thereby raising its overall value.
